Timeline Specifics

Taking a brief reprieve from the more informative topics, I have a question/suggestion for our timeline.

According to the canon at the end of the Second Galactic Civil War former Admiral Daala came out of left field and was arbitrarily appointed Chief of State of the New Republic. Aside from being an illogical choice, it also proved to be a terrible decision. With her rule came the alienation of the New Jedi Order, the exile of Luke Skywalker, and a series of other ridiculous circumstances which eventually led to the rise of the One Sith and the collapse of society.

One could call this "bizarro star wars"

My alternative is that Daala never becomes chief of state, and thus the galaxy enjoys a period of peace while the Jedi help the Republic rebuild and eventually reorganize itself as the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. Preventing the One Sith from establishing themselves.

Time goes on and during the reign of Emperor Fel II mysterious occurances in Imperial space allude to the presence of a new Sith threat, which leads to our current situation.

Fel Empire

This topic will discuss the Fel Empire, known simply as 'The Empire' in-universe.

The Empire in our timeline is currently led by Emperor Jagged Fel the second (canon actually doesnt provde his real name, only referring to him as 'Fel II'). This Empire is much more benevolent than Palpatines, the xenophobia attributed to the old Empire is largely absent here, and women are treated equally in the military.

Reports of Sith activity within Imperial space have roused suspicion upon the Empire from the Jedi and the Galactic Alliance, which prompted the Emperor to declare the Sith an enemy of the throne. Taking the existence of a new Sith presence as a real threat to the Empire, the Emperor has reorganized a new arm of the Imperial military which reports directly to the throne.

All players who join the Empire will be inducted into this group, which has been named 'The Emperors Hand'. This is a callback to a group organized under Palpatine by the same name. In the past it was a group of Sith Assassins who carried out his will, ironically the new group (comprised of non-forcers) has been tasked with finding and eliminating the Sith.

Members possess a ranking structure seperate from the larger Imperial Military, and the highest rank a player can achieve is Commander, who leads the Emperor's hand and answers directly to the Emperor.

While the resources of the Imperial Military are at their disposal, reliance on their assistance would reflect poorly on the Hand, who are also seen within the Empire as Inquisitors of a sort.

Galactic Alliance

The purpose of this topic is to outline our intentions with the Galactic alliance, their state of affairs, holdings, etc. So without further ado I'll get to the point.

When players join the Alliance they will be enlisted in the Phantom Squadron. This is a newly formed outfit, players comprising the founding members. The group has been formed specifically in response to recent reports of sith activity in Imperial space. Members will be tasked with investigating the veracity of the reports and the scope of the Sith threat, and will be responsible for containing and eliminating the threat if it exists.

Phantom Squadron recruits the most promising candidates from all areas of the Alliance, as it may need to deal with a variety of situations and is expected to be self-sufficiant. This means its membership include pilots, engineers, technologists, soldiers, commandos and even spies.

The group has its own chain of command, the highest rank a player can achieve is Commander, being in charge of Phantom Squadron but reporting to Alliance High Command.

Since operations will be carried out in Imperial space for the most part, the group will have little assistance from the greater Alliance fleet. In addition the Alliance is treating the group as a black ops unit, which can use whatever means it deems necessary to accomplish the mission, but in the event of conflict with or capture by Imperial forces, the Alliance will deny any involvement.

Planets- Taris

Taris, the planet many of us remember visiting in the first KOTOR, was as we all know largely destroyed by the Sith Empire of that time period. It was later rebuilt canonically, largely in the image of its former self, with upper and lower cities separating the class-structures populating the planet. Ownership of the planet traded hands a number of times, during the Galactic Civil War the Rebellion ousted its Imperial occupants and the pirates who attempted to take it from them, though at the end of the war it was reclaimed for the Imperial Remnants.

In our timeline, I am unsure of its situation. It is without question a highly populated and sophisticated city-planet akin to the better-known Coruscant, however its allegiance is in question. It could easilly have remained under the control of the Imperial Remnant until its reformation under the Fel Empire, where it now has become a major planet under its control, or perhaps it would have come under alliance control before the Fel Empire was formed, and now could serve as our main Alliance planet.

Since such a decision is not mine alone to make, and is left ambiguous by the canon, I present it to you for discussion to that end, and any other suggestions pertaining to the planet are of course welcome.

Planets- Mandalore

Ah Mandalore, home of the Mandalorians. Let it be said here and now that we will not abide by any Fandalorian overemphasis or power play as regards to this faction, however due to canonical events, they cannot be ignored as a significant faction to consider in our time period.

The end of Darth Caedus' story arc is the last canonical reference to the fate of the planet I have found up to the time of the legacy era, and it is established in that arc that Mandalore has become the true home of the Mandalorians, who are benefiting from an alliance with the Verpine. A nano-virus has laced the atmosphere eradicating any descendants of the Fett line, including clones and descendants of clone troopers and the like.

Mandalore as a planet should be very spartan in keeping with Mandalorian traditions, despite their technological and economic successes. It should be represented as a planet and force capable of defending itself, and a useful mercenary asset, but not a threat on the galactic stage.

Discuss.

Planets- Rhen Var

Rhen Var is an ice world much akin to Hoth, which was featured in The Empire Strikes Back. In many ways it can be treated as a parallel of that world, however it is also known to contain the ruins of ancient civilizations and Jedi Artifacts. It eventually housed a small Rebel outpost, which itself was overtaken by Imperial forces, after this its fate is not explored.

My belief is that Rhen Var is supposed to provide treasure hunters and the like with ample room for exploration and thus should contain some of the ruins it is known to have, along with missions which allow for further exploration and profit, free of the influence of the main factions. Thus it should be treated as an uninhabited independent world.

However this very fact also makes it a juicy set-piece for various forcer missions as well, and who knows whether the Sith have interests or uses for this mostly overlooked planet.

You know what to do!

Planets- Dathomir

Taken directly from the star wars Wookieepedia:
"By the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Dathomir was once again under New Republic protection, and although the planet fell to the Yuuzhan Vong during their initial attack in 27 ABY, the invaders soon realized that the native "Jeedai" were going to be harder to subdue. Dathomir was never fully conquered, and after the war's end, Jedi Master Streen, with the help of Dathomiri Jedi Kirana Ti and Damaya, did a great deal of work on Dathomir in 30 ABY and founded a Praxeum in order to train the local witches as Jedi. In the following years, Jacen Solo came to the planet and trained in the arts of the indigenous witches."

So it appears that Dathomir would be under the protection of the Jedi and the Alliance in our time-period, with a Jedi Enclave being the most prominent fixture the planet holds. All other force-groups on the planet have been quelled or converted the Jedi way, and the indigenous population is mostly human.

I have little knowledge of Dathomir's local population although I understand there is plentiful information about it before our time period.

My suggestion is that Dathomir be the location of our Jedi enclave, your own suggestions are welcome and encouraged as always.

Planets- Dantooine

Dantooine was captured by the Vong during their war with the New Republic, however it fared better than most of the war-ravaged worlds of its time. Since there was never a large presence on the planet in the first place there was little of the scarring found on more populated planets, though they had used it in ceremonies where sacrifices were made to their gods. It was left largely habitable at the end of the war.

When the Vong surrendered, it is assumed the alliance would have reclaimed it, however perhaps it is not so. Since the world sits near bastion and separates it from other worlds, it could be considered a tactically important world to both the Alliance and the Empire. Thus I propose it be locked in a stalemate as a no-mans land. Still largely untouched after the Vong surrendered it.

The planets surface was mostly farmland before the war, and any settlements were leveled by the Vong. Supposedly any Vong alterations would have been destroyed after their surrender and the planet would now mostly be home to ruin.

However, there is still much that could be done with the world, and so I present it to all for discussion as to those possibilities.

Planets- Phaeda

Phaeda is described as a planet with two rocky moons, of little strategic or commercial importance. It serves as a haven for smugglers and houses a diverse variety of sentient species.

Like Bastion, this planet is largely unexplored canonically, however it is reasonably comparable to Nar Shadaa but free from hutt control. While it is under the control of the Fel Empire, their presence is token at best, only there to provide a semblance of order. In reality its citizens and those who travel there are largely independent and operate outside the law, while the garrison turns a blind eye as long as the necessary credits end up in their hands.

I assume this planet would contain unsavory bars and gambling dens, its criminal element being somewhere beyond underground and perhaps truly out in the open. This is a planet of opportunities for those who distance themselves from the law.

As usual, you are asked to discuss and provide your own opinions/suggestions.

Planets- Bastion

Canonically at this point Bastion is the most fortified location in the galaxy, having been rebuilt after the Yuuzhan Vong war specifically to that end, it is also the seat of the Fel Empire.

Despite its high profile, there is very little material available which actually describes Bastion in detail, thus the major purpose of this topic is to determine this for ourselves. Presumably it would contain the Imperial Palace, and serve as the central chapter-house of the Imperial Knights. Beyond that I myself have little to add at this point.

Planets- Confirmed and suggested planets

Wanted to kick off the builder forum with our most important subject- planets!
Given the timeline and backdrop of our mud, which hopefully should be outlined and discussed elsewhere in these forums, it has been largely decided that the current focus should be a closely clustered selection of carefully picked planets at the center of current events. Along with this the planets should each offer distinct flavors and attractions so as to provide a varied experience for our players.

For these reasons we have thus far confirmed the following selection of planets:
-Bastion- heart and fortress of the Fel Empire.
-Phaeda- a haven of smugglers, with only a token Imperial Garrison.
-Dantooine- a war-scarred no mans land separating Imperial and Alliance space
-Dathomir- home to a Jedi Praxeum but largely unexplored
-Taris- in this age a planetary city akin to Coruscant
-Rhen Var- a frozen world concealing long forgotten ruins
-Mandalore- home of the independent warriors

other planets have been proposed but not fully confirmed, those include
-Korriban
-Yavin
-Tatooine
-Ossus
-Ord Mantell
-The Wheel (massive station)

And as a third section, there are some areas which are already near completion but not within the scope of events we've projected. I don't know all of them so I'll need some help with this list but these are planets which might be worked in despite their distance or converted for use in other areas.

-Tattooine
-Senesha
-Coruscant
-Rodia
-Taruset

The purpose of this topic is to discuss the merits of additional planets, discuss.
